Microsoft Wants To Take On Google
from the watch-out... dept
It was just a few days ago that we were saying that when you look at Google as a “knowledge operating system” you could see how they end up being competitive with Microsoft. Apparently, folks at Microsoft are beginning to realize that as well. Someone from MSN is being quoted in a Reuters story saying that they
see Google as something of a threat in terms of providing a great user experience. Of course, they’re just talking about from the consumer “portal” side of things (since, after all, the guy is from MSN), but eventually, they’re going to see Google as encroaching on a bigger part of their turf.

Microsoft...
Yet another company with a dying model trying to blame the world for their problems than evolve…
Oh wait, this is Microsoft we’re talking about, a convicted Monopolist, and always fearful of competition since they cannot innovate, just “intigrate” (steal other’s ideas) and run them out of business.
User Experience? WTF?
“We believe that we can provide consumers with a better product and a better user experience.”
A better user experience? How does typing in a list of search keywords and getting back a list of URL links qualify as an “experience”?
I could imagine a user experience on something like amazon.com or expedia.com where you spend some time browsing around and comparing various things, but only a marketroid from Microsoft would call what you do on google.com an “experience”.
Re: User Experience? WTF?
Answers and information are becoming cheaper. Questions are getting more important and users need help formulating them. I could see something like ask.com, but useful, as in:
user: I’d like to find out more about razor blades
Google: here are some sites, anything specific, metallurgy, machining, processes, market?
etc.
