Linksys, Ricochet To Offer Router
Fresh off being acquired by Cisco, Linksys has teamed up with Ricochet Networks to offer a Ricochet router. Of course, this is yet another solution that would have been absolutely brilliant back in the heyday of Ricochet. Allowing multiple computers to access a single Ricochet account makes complete sense. It goes back to my original complaint with Ricoceht (back when they were Metricom) five years ago: they never realized they were offering a competing service to DSL and cable broadband. Instead they were focused on this mythical “mobile professional”. Of course, now, it might be too late. Ricochet isn’t as appealing to me since it seems like there are WiFi connections everywhere I go that are faster and more reliable.
