Wildseed Interchangeable Faceplates Arrive

We’ve written about Wildseed in the past, talking about how their “smart faceplates” that include smart chip with applications related to that specific faceplate lets them create a poor man’s MVNO, by going around the carrier tollbooth. Well, now, Wildseed faceplates are finally going to show up (early next year… so there’s still some “vaporware” factor) on funky Curitel handsets – with products that are clearly targeted at the youth market. It’ll be interesting to see how well they catch on – but since it’s the faceplate itself, and not through the restrictive carrier content offering, Wildseed (and its content partners) may be able to adjust more quickly to stay on top of fads.Update (PA): Kyocera is also planning to make Wildseed compatible handsets.
