Loading MP3s Onto Cellphones As Ringtones

Record companies who were looking to profit from ringtone sales of their artists’ songs aren’t happy to hear about a new company, named Xingtone, which will let anyone take their own MP3s and turn them into ringtones. It’s really no shock that a company came up with such a technology. If anything, I’m more surprised it wasn’t just some individual who created the software in his spare time and put it out on the internet for free. However, the music industry, always afraid of any tool that might possibly somehow be used for (gasp!) listening to music without paying them a toll, is clearly upset about this new software, and are likely to try to sue the company out of existence.
