400,000 Stolen Mobile Phones Disabled
In a continuing effort to slow down street crime, where mobile phone theft is huge problem, more than 400,000 stolen mobile phones have been disabled – thus lessening the incentive for thieves to steal them. When I first heard about the level of mobile phone theft in Europe I couldn’t understand why the phones weren’t simply being disabled – but was told it was nearly impossible due to the way SIM cards worked. Apparently, people have figured out a way to work around that issue.
