Survivor, Silicon Valley-Style

from the welcome-to-the-VC-pitch-and-pray-circus dept

An amusing piece in the San Jose Mercury News trying to turn the process of raising venture capital into a reality-style TV show. It starts with entrepreneurs flinging business plans up a sand hill towards a VC who never sees them – though eventually he tells one entrepreneur “keep me informed”, thus kicking that entrepreneur out of the Valley. The next event is a personal favorite: jumping through flaming hoops. After you get through the first bunch, the VCs reveal more and more tents filled with more and more flaming hoops. The final stage is when they dump the entrepreneurs in a pit full of lawyers. The article is surprisingly accurate for anyone who decides they want to go through the process.
