Wireless Nets Suck, Says Expert

According to wireless network tester Rice Williams, “there is no reason why any sane person would buy wireless data services.” In his tests Williams found that wireless data networks only had 35 to 76 percent success rates for FTP transfers. Yeah, it would be great if the success rate was closer to 100 percent. But we can’t even get a 100 percent success rate for voice service yet. So his results aren’t exactly earth shattering. The bigger point he’s making is that there is a fundamental flaw in the way carriers are building these networks and their perception of quality. Now, that’s just plain shocking.
