More On Googling As A Verb

from the it's-everywhere dept

Apparently Tracey Schelmetic hasn’t been paying attention to recent legal notices coming out of Google as she’s now written an article

discussing “googling” as a verb where she indicates that it applies to any search engine – something sure to make Google’s lawyers cringe. However, the rest of the article goes beyond the typical “this is googling” articles out there to suggest uses of googling beyond figuring out if the person you met at the bar last night is a convicted felon. She uses it to detect plagiarism or submitted articles that have been published elsewhere. It’s also good for investigating scams, as you can track down all sorts of info, if you need to. Basically, Google is becoming a necessary utility on the internet – even if they are afraid of being “verbed”.
