Interview With William Gibson
from the back-to-the-present dept
Salon is running an intereview with William Gibson where he talks about his latest book, Pattern Recognition. I’ve read a few reviews of the book and am not sure if I’d find it all that interesting (I’ll probably break down and get it at some point, though…). The main point that every review seems to point out is how strange it is to see Gibson writing a story that takes place in the present, instead of the future. However, as he points out in the article, it seems like his writing has been focused on a single point in time, and each of his books gets closer to that. I wonder if this means his next book will be talking about the past…

The book is fantastic. Much the best thing he has written. Gibson is a writer, not just a SF writer, so why shouldn’t he write about the present?
