AT&T Wireless Unveils Multimedia Messaging

What if someone launched MMS and no one used it? I’m sure there will be plenty of hype around AT&T Wireless being the first to launch an MMS service in the US, but I wonder if anyone outside of the wireless community cares? First off, AT&T Wireless has already been offering “picture messaging” for a while now. What’s the difference with MMS? AT&T Wireless doesn’t do much to clear that up. Customers certainly aren’t going to understand. Second, they’re pricing it at $0.40 per MMS. That’s pretty pricey, and will make most people think twice before they start sending around MMS messages. Finally, the most obvious mistake of all, is that you can only send MMS messages to people on AT&T Wireless.
