A Credible Case For Steve Case

from the not-such-a-bad-guy dept

Michael Kinsley is pointing out that maybe Steve Case isn’t such a bad guy after all. While some are putting him in the same category as the executive scandal mongerers, Case didn’t do anything particularly wrong. He simply bought a company at a time when it made sense to do so. I also think that his vision was still correct – but he failed in making sure the right people were in place to execute on that vision. Leaving AOL-Time Warner as separate fiefdoms, instead of a truly integrated company made it impossible for the company to really leverage the different parts. Instead, they competed with themselves, which has resulted in the troubles they’re facing today.
