3G 'Myth' Delays Mobile Projects

A new (corporate sponsored, of course) study is yelling at businesses for delaying the decision to set up mobile data projects at their companies. Apparently, many companies say they’re waiting for 3G to get sorted out before making a move. This clearly makes sense for some businesses, but it does no good for the industry, so now they have this report screaming “Don’t wait! GPRS is Good Enough! If you don’t do it now, you’ll never catch up!” Okay, so it seems a little overhyped. Clearly, GPRS (or other 2.5G technologies) are good enough for some types of wireless data needs. Companies shouldn’t ignore it just because it’s not “3G”, but that doesn’t mean they should be rushing headlong into mobile data projects yet either.
