Sleep Lets Brain File Memories

from the get-to-sleep dept

I have been accused of not being human for my (ir)regular set of insane work hours (just look at some of my posting times). I clearly have a slightly off-normal sleep schedule, but I actually get more sleep than most people think. A new study, though, suggests that sleep is important in having the brain file away memories. So, if I seem forgetful, now I have an excuse. The article also mentions another study suggesting that blood sugar levels in older people impact their memory – which can explain why some people have Alzheimer-like memory problems, without any of the other symptoms of the disease.
