Total Information Delusion
from the wouldn't-even-work dept
While the Total Information Awareness program may be (perhaps temporarily) stalled by Congress following an outcry of angry citizens, this Business 2.0 opinion piece suggests the real problem with the TIA wasn’t so much that it would let the government spy on everyone, but that it never would have worked in the first place. Basically, it would have just been a huge waste of money. The article does delve into the privacy issues as well, but I think the question of whether or not the technology could work is worth looking at as well. Shouldn’t that issue have come up well before such a project was funded?
