Wireless Guardian Angel Promises To Save Lives in Medical Emergencies
Ericsson has been demonstrating a new wireless emergency system that dynamically switches between various wireless networks to find the best one available at the time. This way, data can be fed back to a hospital from an ambulance using a GPRS system, but once it reaches the hospital, everything automatically starts running over WiFi. It will even do simultaneous transfers over different networks to make sure that important data reaches its destination. I’ve been wondering why such systems haven’t been talked about more. With all the idiotic questions of bluetooth vs. WiFi vs. 3G vs. some other random standard, in the end, people don’t care. They just want the best access for wherever they are at the moment. Systems that can dynamically find and pick the best course are going to become more popular.
