Delta's Song Could Rock JetBlue
from the internet,-games,-MP3s.--a-geek-flying-paradise dept
I found it mildly amusing that, back in November, when word first came out that Delta Airlines was planning a low-cost airline competitor to JetBlue, I heard about it while watching the DirecTV hookup on a JetBlue airline flying across the country. Now, Delta has released the details of their new low-cost Song airline, and it sounds like they’re trying to out-JetBlue Jetblue in almost every area. While JetBlue advertises their free DirecTV satellite TV in every seat, Song will provide EchoStar’s DISH network, but will also go beyond that. They’ll offer pay-per-view programing (complete with credit card slot to slide your card), internet access (no details on how that will work), interactive video games (that you can play against other passengers), and the ability to stream MP3s to your seat. No details on the MP3 system either, but they do say that you can create your own playlists. I would imagine that the songlist will be fairly limited though. To be honest, reading the details, it sounds like geek paradise in the air. They’ll also take care of my biggest complaint with JetBlue: more legroom. Right now the flights are only between NY and Florida, but they’re sure to expand elsewhere fairly rapidly. Of course, Delta doesn’t have the best reputation for service, so it remains to be seen if Song can pick up on JetBlue’s friendly (if quirky) service that has created so many fans. Meanwhile, JetBlue has said that they’re planning to upgrade their in-flight entertainment system to offer many of these services as well.

Song Air vs. Jet Blue
As far as I’m concerned, Delta went down the toilet the day all those laid off Pan Am employees went to work for them. That’s when I stopped flying Delta.
I fly Jet Blue, I LOVE Jet Blue, and I’ll keep on flying with my beloved Blue bird!!!
I retired from the aviation industry, and it delights me to see an airline (Jet Blue) that still cares about the satisfaction, happiness and safety of their passengers!!

Re: Song Air vs. Jet Blue
I just think it funny that a big company like Delta is worried about a “small” company like JetBlue, I think that they see that their jugular has been exposed. I have not flown on JetBlue yet but have purchased stocks in the company. It sounds like they are on the ball at JetBlue.

Re: Song Air vs. Jet Blue
I have to agree with you on that Anne! Delta has gone down the drain and Jet blue is better. Delta is trying to beat Jet Blue with their new Song Airlines business. i flew Jet Blue and loved it. They care about all of their passengers and when i flew, they had been wonderful to the unaccompanied minors onboard.
Finally! There is somebody who I can agree with about the two batteling airlines!!!!!
Re: Song Air vs. Jet Blue
Let me tell u something if you love “Jetblue” you should start working for them. I fly Song Airlines and the service is very very very GOOD and the crew are very friendly. The inflight service is very kool for you and your family. I think that you should try Song Airlines because let me tell you something hunny, Song is gonna beat Jetblue. HELLO Delta Airlines is one of the World Greates Airlines, and also is one of the biggest… so keep your opinions to your self before talking things that you cant say….
