Who Won The Recession?
from the taking-market-share dept
While some companies have been struggling to survive during the downturn, others saw it as an opportunity to gain ground, steal market share from competitors, and better position themselves for when things picked up again. This article looks at some of the “winners” in the downturn who have done just that. Mostly, they’re the dominant companies in an industry who used the downturn to push out smaller rivals, but there are a few cases of smaller upstarts using the downturn to shove their way into the leader board. I wonder if the next set of airport (read: mostly useless) business books will talk about the different skill sets necessary for running a company in a downturn instead of a boom.
