Is That Hot Spot Hot Or Not?

The WiFi Alliance has come up with a pretty good idea to help promote WiFi, while making sure that hotspots offer reasonable levels of service. It’s a WiFi hotspot certification program, that will come with a nice little logo, so that users know a certain area’s hotspot meets some basic criteria (including guarenteed speeds, uptime, and security). Of course, I wonder if it wuold be even more useful to include a WiFi ranking type service as well? Let users of the various spots rank them for how good they are, what sorts of speeds they get, and whether or not there are technical problems. Picture an eBay-style ranking system for hotspots. I know that I would use such a service.
