A Microsoft Watch Will Provide Much More Than Time

Do you remember the watches with built-in pagers? Microsoft just announced its take on data watches that work over a Microsoft built data network. The new watches will be built by Fossil, Citizen, and Suunto and run MS software. They can download info from a PC and receive text messages, time updates, IMs, and local weather updates. No word yet if the devices or the network can handle two-way messaging. But will consumers really go for this? Mobile phones can do a lot of this stuff plus make and receive calls. I’ve noticed more and more people who don’t even wear a watch and use their handsets to check the time.
