Richer Java Apps Come At A Price

Earlier this month Sun introduced MIDP 2.0, a specification for richer Java mobile phone applications. The downside of the new spec is that is requires 100K more memory than 1.0 which will limit it to higher end handsets initially. So while MIDP 2.0 is ideal for wireless games it will probably be used for business applications. Once memory prices drop, MIDP 2.0 will probably find its way to youth oriented gaming handsets.
