Military Seeks To Restrict WiFi

As some Senators prepare a bill that will open up more spectrum for WiFi usage, the Department of Defense is pushing in the other direction, saying that expanding WiFi spectrum usage could interfere with military radar. The two sides are trying to hash out an agreement, but it may come down to the government deciding which is more important: the military or the wireless industry. Of course, there’s no evidence that WiFi does interfere with radar, just the fear that it could. Some are saying that the Defense Department is going about this the wrong way, and they’re going to have to learn to deal with interference issues.
