Snowbound Shoppers Hit The Web

from the go-get-'em dept

As the weather reports from back east made it clear to me that I got back to northern California just in time to avoid the first big snow storm of the year, comes reports that all those people stuck at home in the snow decided to go online and do some holiday shopping. Popular items seemed to include winter gear. No one doubts that many people are going online this year for their gift buying, but I wonder if there really is anything to the idea that the weather has an impact on online shopping? I would imagine it’s just one of many factors that influences where people decide to buy their goods. The real impact on this is probably just the timing. People who were bored at home figured they might as well use the time for something semi-productive.
