3G Games For Women
The Register has a short article making fun of a Forrester study suggesting what the various wireless carriers across Europe should be focusing on in order to boost 3G adoption rates. Their suggestions come down to: games for women, and “cool” messaging features for guys (MMS, email, IM). The Register points out that the carriers themselves probably have a bit more visibility into what their customers actually want than Forrester does. My guess is that neither have very good visibility into anything customers want in terms of wireless data these days. Everyone is simply taking wild guesses, and hoping something pans out. One interesting thing, though, that the article points out is that the wireless carriers have stopped overhyping 3G technology, realizing that no one is buying the hype. It seems they’re regrouping and trying to figure out what new features/service they can hype instead, though.
