Amazon And Google Push Forward With Web Services
from the it's-working... dept
Despite all the hype for many years about web services that had many people scratching their head, it only took a few simple examples for people to quickly realize the potential benefits. Specifically, the moves earlier this year of both Amazon and Google offering up web services routes into their databases – and simply letting developers play around. It seemed that, at first, the general opinion was “this is really cool, but what is it good for?”. Some peopel still feel that way, but with lots of people experimenting, it seems that a few useful applications are starting to show up. It’s making people realize the power of web services, while giving both Amazon and Google “free interface design”, to some extent.
