Ricochet Returns To California

Ricochet just keeps on trying. After turning the service back on in Denver, Aerie Networks is now turning Ricochet back on in San Diego. As with all of Aerie’s plans for Ricochet, the market is quite different than the original one. They’re focused on getting government municipalities to offer wireless services for police or government officials to use. Looking at the Ricochet site, it seems they’re offering a free month to former Ricochet subscribers. It seems like a tough sell, though. In the year and a half that Ricochet has been dead, WiFi has really taken off. While the two aren’t direct replacements for each other, I think many former hardcore Ricochet users (myself included) have discovered that WiFi and hotspots serve their needs.
