A Networked World's Final Frontier: The Airplane

from the pushing-through dept

The NY Times takes on the issue of internet communications in the sky, and points out that more and more people are surreptitiously (or blatantly) using mobile phones and wireless pagers on airplanes, pointing out that they see others do it all the time, and there are still no recorded accidents involving the use of such devices. However, the people who make the rules still insist that these things are dangerous. The article also discusses a few of the attempts to offer real (though, expensive) internet access in the air.
