Gartner Slams 3G Navel Gazing

It’s unclear that consumers want 3G’s faster data services when they aren’t even using the services that are available today. According to GartnerG2 VP and Chief Analyst Adam Daum,”the industry has been too obsessed with 3G technology to the detriment of the needs of consumers.” We couldn’t agree more. There seems to be this idea that faster networks and streaming video will suddenly make people want to use wireless data services. Just look at Internet access which has flourished despite slow broadband roll-outs. The key is developing the right mix of services which consumers will pay for and that should be possible with 2.5G technologies.
