ICANN Kicks Out Auerbach

from the one-way-to-deal-with-your-problems dept

ICANN has an interesting way of dealing with people who question how open they are. They clam up even more and make sure those who question them are shunned. When publicly elected board member Karl Auerbach asked for access to ICANN records it created quite the controversy. Following that battle, it seems the remaining ICANN board members (who seem to respond to all criticism by saying “you just don’t understand what we’re trying to do, and we can’t explain it to you because you wouldn’t even understand why we can’t explain it to you”) have decided they need to silence those who question their reasoning as well. As expected, they’ve kicked Karl Auerbach off the board and removed all publicly elected board members, because clearly us common-folk are too messy to actually have some oversight on the organization that runs the internet. This is a disgusting abuse of power.
