Books For The Asking

from the easier-to-publish,-harder-to-get-read dept

Remember when the internet was going to change every business? One of the popular ones to talk about was the book publishing industry. With the internet, anyone could publish a book. Of course, the problem with that is that there are already a ton of crappy books being published through publishing houses – and letting anyone publish a book without any filter whatsoever just adds to the mess. The NY Times takes a look at two people who used publishing on demand services successfully to somehow become “best selling” authors. However, they point out these are very much the exception to the rule. Of course, if you just want to publish your own book for fun, it doesn’t sound like a bad way to do it.
