The Latest On The RIAA Written Webcasting "Compromise"

from the the-comprimise-that-wasn't dept

Following yesterday’s story about the webcasting “compromise” that seems to have upset a lot of webcasters, the Register has a follow up story discussing what is likely to happen to the bill now, and also prints a number of responses to their article yesterday. Basically, the people who crafted the compromise say that people are overreacting, while those who are getting the raw end of the deal continue to be angry. It seems clear that no solution is going to satisfy everyone, but that doesn’t mean that the quickest solution that people come up with is going to be the best one overall. Unfortunately, though, as someone points out in the article, once Congress thinks this problem has been “solved”, they’re unlikely to return to it.
