ActiveBuddy Goes Wireless

ActiveBuddy develops tools to create interactive agents that allow access to information via instant messaging networks. It’s basically a friendlier command line UI that has an IM conversation feel. Now they are extending their platform to support wireless messaging in addition to IM. Developers can use the ActiveBuddy platfrom to create interactive agents that work over WAP or SMS. The advantage to developers is that they don’t need to work with carriers directly to create agents, ActiveBuddy provides the carrier interface. This will have appeal for select vertical applications or enterprise users. But at the end of the day, users still need to remember how to format their queries just like interactive SMS services and that’s not an ideal user interface.
