Webcaster Agreement Angers Webcasters

from the so-much-for-that- dept

When I first read about the potential “deal” between the music industry and small webcasters, the thought did cross my mind as to who exactly these “small webcasters” were. How exactly did they get all those small webcasters into a room with the music industry and get them to all agree? It turns out, of course, that they didn’t. The “small webcasters” were actually a small consortium of a few of the larger small webcasters, and now a bunch of smaller small webcasters are yelling that the deal screwed them over. They still say that the large majority of small webcasters are going to have to shut down, and the few that keep going will always be forced to remain small.
