Orange UK Takes A Byte
We’ve always believed that 3G would be late and that carriers would have to put up with their 2.5G networks much longer than they orginally planned. Apparently they are realizing it as well and are making investments in squeezing the most out of these intermediate networks. Orange UK is the latest player to sign with a network optimization player. They are using Bytemobile’s client-less compression system to speed up GPRS. The compression is more or less transparent to the user and lets carriers make the most of each timeslot dedicated to data.
