Those Clever Americans

In the US, we’re all pretty familiar with Nextel’s unique push-to-talk feature, DirectConnect. Start-up Sonim hopes to bring a similar feature to GSM/GPRS networks. The Register contemplates push-to-talk which they have dubbed “voice ‘texting”. They conclude that Sonim might be on to something. But what really shocks them is that a wireless application developed in the wireless backwater of America could actually have a chance in Europe. Hell, even we’re surprised.
