Cingular Wireless Rollover Rolls On

As competition for wireless subscribers gets more fierce, carriers are forced to come up with new differentiators. Cingular is the first carrier to introduce rollover minutes, which lets subscribers carry over unused minutes for up to 12 months. Initially the offer was limited to local plans, but now they are extending it to selected national plans. While rollover minutes are unique, it’s yet another expensive new customer acquisition tool. It will mean loss of overage revenues. Carrier’s really need to focus on churn and ARPU and move away from price competition.
