A Rosy Decade Ahead – Unless the Mobile Operators Bumble It
Can the wireless industry’s current woes be traced to operators’ desire to be more than than pipes? Betting on 3G and related applications was certainly motivated by breaking out of the low value pipe category and into the media category (we know how well that worked). But despite all the current gloom there are number opportunities for wireless to grow. These opportunties just happen to be below the radar to some degree. Oh, and they make carriers dumb pipes and billing systems.
