Metacrawler Gets Googled

from the the-more-the-merrier? dept

Remember Metacrawler? I have to admit that I’d almost forgotten about them. They were the meta-search engine that would search a bunch of different search engines and pull all the results together. I forget who exactly they used to search, but I think it was something along the lines of Yahoo, Lycos, Excite and AltaVista. Now, Metacrawler 2.0 has launched with the latest generation of search engines including Google, who they appear to have made a deal with (despite being something of a competitor). Of course, in many cases Google is so good, I’m not sure a meta search engine is really all that useful any more.
