Making Employer Email Snooping Illegal In The UK
from the sounds-reasonable dept
An MP in the UK is trying to introduce legislation that would ban employers from reading employees’ emails. He says that it should be a violation of privacy law, such as similar UK laws preventing phone call and snail mail snooping. I doubt such a law would pass in the US where email seems to be considered property of the employer. Of course, it would be nice if companies actually trusted their employees, but trust seems like such a dead concept these days.

Speaking of trust… my mother used to tell me that trust had to be earned.
Now, aparrently, you can demand that it be legislated.
The only thing suprising about this story is that it is
the UK, not the US, since they generally lead the world
in stupid laws.
