CDMA2000 Ahead in 3G Race
The CDMA Development Group (CDG) has issued a statement saying that 99% of all 3G customers worldwide are CDMA2000 subscribers. Most of these users are in Japan and South Korea. Of course the definition of 3G is somewhat stretched since most of those users are on 1XRTT networks which are really 2.5G but deliver 3G like applications. CDMA2000 has the lead for the moment but once WCDMA gets its act together and networks start launching, CDMA2000 is unlikely to capture more than 30% of the global market unless GSM carriers defect.
