The Myth Of Cybersecurity

from the doesn't-exist dept

A good followup to yesterday’s article about Bruce Schneier and how insecure we really are when it comes to computer security, Ray Ozzie has written an opinion piece where he explains how cybersecurity doesn’t exist right now. Basically, if you’re doing something on the internet, someone is probably monitoring it. He also points out (as does Schneier) that the weak link in all this isn’t technology, but the human factor. However, he does recommend that everyone start using systems that encrypt everything you do (Ozzie, who has become Bill Gates’ best buddy these days, recommends using Windows XP for this purpose).
