News.com has an article about how all the wireless carriers, suddenly desperate for more money as new subscription rates slow down, are starting to nickle and dime their customers with random and annoying fees. For instance, Sprint PCS now charges for customer support calls. Some analysts point out that these sorts of “hidden” charges tend to anger customers to no end, and could do more harm than good. However, the carriers need to keep their profits up (especially in the wake of WorldCom) that they really don’t seem to care how their customers feel (despite how obvious it seems to just about everyone that not caring about your customers makes it much more difficult to actually keep your customers).
