Techies Go For A Cold Afterlife

from the freeze-me dept

With the ongoing debate about whether or not to freeze Ted Williams, a lot more people have been discussing cryonics. Not surprisingly, a large percentage of those interested in having their bodies (or just heads) frozen after death are techies. They’re more willing to believe that at some point in the future, somehow, someone will figure out how to unfreeze people and bring them back to life (or, maybe just upload the contents of their brain onto a computer). While many techies are naturally skeptical, as well, it seems like just enough of a “calculated” risk to take a chance. Besides, the worst case scenario is you just stay dead, and that’s what would happen anyway.
