Friendly Robot

from the completing-tasks dept

Some researchers from Carnegie Mellon have created a robot that they’re sending to a conference to complete some tasks. The robot is supposed to be courteous and friendly to people around it. The tasks it is supposed to complete include finding the registration desk for the conference, signing up, making its way to a conference room, and giving a talk (and answering associated questions afterwards). The system uses pattern recognition, laser, sonar and speech recognition to try to understand the environment around it.
