Water Cooled Laptops

from the your-laptop-is-leaking dept

Hitachi is releasing a water-cooled laptop computer. Instead of the usual noisy fan to keep the chip cool, this system usese water running through a plastic tube. They say it’s just as efficient, but much much quieter. And, in a pinch, you can drink it, if you’re dehydrated (ok, they don’t say that, and I’m sure they suggest you don’t do anything like that…). Hitachi (of course) has a bunch of patents around this idea, and are trying to license it to other computer makers to make it a standard. I’m all for anything that will make the airplane engine on my laptop shut up for good.
