It's No Longer Fun To Talk Stocks

from the of-course-not dept

Back in the internet boom days everyone was talking about hot stock tips. I heard stories of doctors telling their patients stock tips and package delivery drivers telling homeowners to invest in this or that. It was, clearly, crazy. Nowadays, in Silicon Valley, no one wants to talk about stocks any more, because the only thing to talk about is how much you lost. No one seems to like talking about failures. What’s interesting to me, is that it seems clear most of the people in the article who were day trading had no business trading stocks. They didn’t know much about what they were doing, and were simply trading on what they heard on CNBC. Also, none of them seem to accept the blame for knowingly taking part in what was clearly a crazy time. They simply regret the losses.
