No Real SMS for Sprint Subscribers

For the most part Sprint has always seemed like one of the smarter wireless carriers in the US, except when it comes to SMS. They have no plans to implement true SMS on their networks or handsets. While Sprint subscribers can receive SMS messages, they must use the mobile browser to reply or initiate a message. This is just plain stupid and means that Sprint users will be left behind as SMS takes off in the US. They claim that their users prefer their implementation of AOL Instant Messenger because it allows them to reach users on the desktop and on the phones. Guess what? AIM on the phone works much better via SMS than a browser.
