Would You Pay For A File Swapping Service?
from the they're-gonna-charge dept
It seems that file sharing software products Morpheus and iMesh are both planning on charging people for ad-free versions of their software somewhere in the near future. While both say they’ll continue to offer up ad-supported versions for free, it will be interesting to see how many people actually pay up. It will be even more interesting to see how they respond when someone puts a cracked version of the ad-free software up on their own network…

No problem
As soon as the non-ad version is released, it will show up on the file sharing networks. Done and done.
er, uh
Perhaps, a No-Ads, No-Spyware version…
I have
LimeWire has an ad based gnutella client and a “pro” client without the ads. I thought it was worth the $8.50 to avoid the ads and help support a decent piece of software. The LimeWire Pro client is available as a download off of gnutella. I haven’t seen anything that indicates LimeWire is trying to block the upload/download.
