Virgin To The Rescue

from the help!-i'm-on-a-blind-date-and-can't-bail! dept

Virgin Mobile USA finally announced details of their services and launch plans today. The service will go live this Sunday in Sacramento, CA and Columbus, OH, with a nation-wide rollout by the end of July. They are using a prepaid pricing scheme similar to their plan in the UK where the first 10 minutes of calling a day are charged at one rate and all subsequent calls of the day are charged at a discounted rate. But even more innovative are their value-add services. Take “Rescue Ring”, for exmaple. Users can schedule a call to interrupt them at a set time to bail them out of potentially boring or awkward situations. The 13-25 year-old demo is going to eat that up. Hell, some of us could use that on practically every date we go on these days.
