Has Qualcomm Admitted It's A GSM World?
This article is about the inevitable wireless carrier consolidation that will happen sometime after the spectrum caps are eliminated in 2003. No real new info on that front. But what is interesting is this quote from John Lodenius, SVP of Marketing for Qualcomm, “We’re developing chips with both CDMA 1x and GPRS in the same chip. From a technology perspective, we can support any combination of carriers[.] Whatever consolidation the carriers end up in, we’ll have solutions.” Seems the GSM/CDMA cold war is over and Qualcomm is admitting that GSM has won.
