From Fee To Free

from the other-way-around dept

For all the talk of Yahoo! (and others) nickel and diming us on various charges, here’s a bit of surprising news. Yahoo! has decided to go the other direction and are dropping the fee they had been requiring for people to place a personal advertisement. Of course, it still costs money to actually reply to an ad. This doesn’t seem so surprising when you realize that they were probably losing quite a bit of business with the former plan. More people are willing to pay to respond if there’s more options up there in the first place. To get those more options up there, it makes a lot more sense to make that part of the offering free.
